The deadline for submitting applications to Call CaixaResearch for Health Research 2025 is November 20, 2024 at 14:00 CET. This is a program run by the “la Caixa” Foundation, which FCT has joined under the existing partnership between the institutions. In this Call, the FCT undertakes to match the investment that the “la Caixa” Foundation allocates to the research projects that are selected in Portugal.

For those interested, on October 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. CET, an information session is scheduled on Call, in an online format and with compulsory registration.

This Call is part of the Iberian Biomedical Research and Innovation Initiative – i4b, which supports research projects in biomedicine and health. Its aim is to identify and promote initiatives of scientific excellence, with potential and impact on society, by funding individual or consortium projects in the following thematic areas: neurosciences, oncology, cardiovascular diseases and associated metabolic diseases, infectious diseases, and enabling technologies in the above thematic areas.

Projects will have a maximum implementation period of 3 years. Applications can be submitted in the form of: Individual Projects – submitted by a single research organization and may request financial support of up to €500,000; or Consortium Projects – submitted by a minimum of two and a maximum of five research organizations and may request financial support of up to €1,000,000. Since 2018, under this agreement between FCT and the “la Caixa” Foundation, 200 projects have been supported at Call CaixaResearch for Health Research, with a total investment of €145.7 million. 63 projects were led by Portuguese institutions, representing support of around €50 million, of which €16.5 million was supported by FCT.
