APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR THE EU PRIZE FOR WOMEN INNOVATORS 2022

Applications until August 18th 2022

The European Commission, within Horizon Europe, has opened the applications for the 9th edition of the EU Prize for Women Innovators. This award, promoted by the European Innovation Council (EIC) and the SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA), celebrates women entrepreneurs responsible for ground-breaking innovations in Europe.

The EU Prize for Women Innovators is open to women from all EU Member States and countries associated to Horizon Europe, who have founded an innovative business. This award aims not only to reward women entrepreneurs, but also to inspire others to follow their footsteps.

This is a contest funded by Horizon Europe and will award three prizes worth 100,000 euros to the most inspiring women innovators. In addition to this, to mark the European Year of Youth, the EIC will award three further 50,000 euros prizes to promising emerging innovators under 35.

Applications run until August 18th 2022, 5:00 p.m. (CET). The prize is managed by the European Innovation Council and the SME Executive Agency and the winners are chosen by an independent jury of experts.

‘The empowerment of women and girls is at the core of our European values and goals. We aim to promote environments that help women succeed and lead in their fields. This year, we highlight some of the key initiatives undertaken to support women in science, innovation, culture and education,’ said Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth.

In Portugal, Pillar III of Horizon Europe, a programme which includes the EIC, is monitored by ANI.
