Promove 2024 funds R&D projects in inland regions

Applications are now open for the 6th edition of the Promove Program – The Future of the Interior, an initiative of the “la Caixa” Foundation, in collaboration with BPI and in partnership with FCT. Applications are open until January 31, 2024.

Support will be given to projects and ideas aimed at enhancing the interior regions of Portugal, with a view to promoting R&D projects that contribute to the development of these regions, based on knowledge and innovation with a view to enhancing local resources and skills and strengthening qualified human resources.

Pilot projects and ideas should focus on the management of natural resources, the creation of new development and innovation hubs and the attraction of tourists and new residents. Mobilizing R&D projects should fall within the strategic areas identified by the Portuguese government for the development of the interior, namely: thermal waters, parks and nature reserves, studies on biological risks and the promotion of new crops and natural products.

This Call takes place every year and awards non-refundable grants of up to 150,000 euros for pilot projects, 250,000 euros for mobilizing R&D projects and 5,000 euros for innovative ideas developed by university students.

In the five previous editions, the Promove Programme mobilized close to 11.8 million euros in non-repayable support, benefiting 70 projects and 31 innovative ideas. Of this amount, FCT provided 3.7 million.
