International Open Access Week

International Open Access Week

The International Open Access Week runs until October 29th. This annual initiative is promoted by the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC) and aims to promote and disseminate Open Access and Free Knowledge, and to promote the free and unrestricted availability of scientific research.

The theme of this edition: “Community over Commercialization“, aims to reflect on the approaches to open science that prioritize the best interests of the public and the academic community, and those that do not.

On a national scale, RCAAP is taking part in this initiative. It has joined as part of its communication activities, with the aim of reinforcing the importance of institutional repositories and, consequently, promoting Open Access in Portugal.

RCAAP is a repository managed by the FCT’s FCCN Unit, in collaboration with the University of Minho, which is in line with the FCT’s Open Science Policies and its commitment to adopting instruments that promote the practice of Open Science.

More information on the International Open Access Week is available here. With regard to RCAAP activities, individual or collective initiatives are publicized on this website and on the Facebook page and social network X.
