Fullbright Portugal has open applications until January 31, 2023 for the Fellowships Fulbright for Research and for the Fellowships Fulbright for PhD, Calls which are supported by FCT.

The Fellowships Fulbright for Research program is intended for doctoral fellows directly funded by FCT who have foreseen, as part of their training plan, a research period at a US university or research center, and covers all areas of study. Good knowledge of the English language, proof of agreement with the project on the part of the host institution in the United States of America, and proof of agreement with the doctoral supervisor are essential for the application. This fellowship has a defined duration of 4 to 9 months. The selected applicants receive FCT support in addition to Fulbright’s support, which provides them with complementary health and accident insurance during the period of the grant, and issuance of the documents necessary for the J-1 visa, among other benefits.

The Fellowships Fulbright PhD Program is intended for students who will be attending on a full-time basis the first year of a PhD program at an accredited university in the United States of America, starting in the academic year 2023/2024. Preference will be given to students whose academic background was developed in a Portuguese higher education institution. For the application, two letters of recommendation(Letters of Reference) will be required; copy of the transcripts of grades by discipline for each academic degree obtained and respective translation into English; diploma, percentile or bachelor’s ranking supplement (when possible) and respective translation into English; copy of the Scholarship Regulations signed and initialed by the applicant; and the Diversity Essay written by the applicant. Applicants must also submit, at the time of application or until April 15, 2023, the following documents: proof of admission to the university to be attended; proof of financial aid from the university to be attended; proof of financial capacity (personal and/or other funds) to support the total cost of the first year of studies, in the amount exceeding the Fulbright Grant and the amount of financial aid from the university to be attended.
