For nearly 30 years, the EU has funded the Erasmus programme, which has enabled over three million European students to spend part of their studies at another higher education institution or with an organisation in Europe.
Erasmus+ brings such opportunities to all – students, staff, trainees, teachers, volunteers and more can access opportunities:
Students
Erasmus+ can offer you support during your period of study abroad: whether this is in an Erasmus+ Programme country or in an Partner country. |
Erasmus+ supports traineeships (work placements, internships, etc.) abroad for students enrolled in higher education in a Programme Country. These opportunities are also open to recent graduates. |
With Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees, you can receive a full degree scholarship for a Master-level international study programme. Erasmus+ Master Degree Loans are EU-guaranteed loans with favourable pay-back terms that can help you finance a Master course (1 or 2 years) in an Erasmus+ Programme country. |

Staff (teaching)
Erasmus+ supports teaching periods at higher education institutions abroad. If you work in higher education, you can spend time teaching at an institution in an Erasmus+ Programme or Partner country. People working in businesses can receive support to teach and share knowledge with higher education institutions located in a Programme country. |
Erasmus+ supports teaching assignments at adult education organisations abroad. If you work in adult education, you can spend time teaching or providing training at another organisation in an Erasmus+ Programme country. Such experiences and exchanges can help improve language skills and cultural knowledge, as well as providing a new perspective on teaching practices and approaches. |
Erasmus+ supports teaching assignments at schools abroad for professionals involved in pre-primary, primary and secondary school education. Through teaching abroad, you can gain broader a perspective on education, exchange knowledge with your colleagues in another country and pick up good practices in education. These opportunities are available between schools based in Erasmus+ Programme countries. |
Erasmus+ supports teaching assignments at vocational education and training (VET) institutions abroad. If you work in VET, you can spend time teaching at another organisation in an Erasmus+ Programme country. |
Jean Monnet is the part of Erasmus+ dedicated to promoting excellence in EU studies in higher education around the world. There is an emphasis on the study of and research on EU integration and in understanding Europe’s place in a globalised world. |

Staff (training)
Erasmus+ supports training periods for staff working in higher education institutions. With Erasmus+, you can train at a higher education institution in an Erasmus+ Programme or Partner country. If you are working in a higher education institution in a Programme Country, you can also train at an organisation outside the sector in a Programme country. |
Erasmus+ supports training activities abroad for professionals involved in pre-primary, primary and secondary school education. These opportunities can consist of structured courses or other events, or job shadowing at schools and other relevant organisations involved in school education. |
Erasmus+ supports the professional development of people working in vocational education and training (VET) through training periods abroad. Training periods can be work placements or job shadowing or observation periods at VET institution or at another relevant organisation based in an Erasmus+ Programme country. |

Trainees

Young people
The European Voluntary Service is open to young people aged 17-30 and lets you travel abroad for a period between 2 weeks and 12 months to participate in a project on a voluntary basis. A wide variety of projects are available in many areas such as social care, the environment and culture. |
Youth exchanges allow groups of young people from different countries to meet and live together for up to 21 days. On a youth exchange, you can expect to participate in activities such as workshops, exercises, debates, role-plays, outdoor activities, etc. |
Youth Workers
Periods abroad can consist of training courses, study visits, job shadowing or observation periods at relevant organisations and more. |
