21st Edition of the L’Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science

Applications for the 21st edition of the “L’Oréal Portugal Medals of Honor for Women in Science” run from November 4 until 5pm (mainland Portugal time) on December 6, 2024. This Call has been promoted by FCT, L’Oréal Portugal and the UNESCO National Commission since 2004 and has so far honored 69 young female researchers in Portugal.

The 2024 edition will award four medals of honor, worth 15,000 euros each. The initiative aims to support advanced scientific research studies, at post-doctoral level, carried out in an institution of the national scientific and technological system, in the field of Science, Engineering and Technology for Health or the Environment.

All women who, on the opening date of Call, have obtained a doctoral degree less than five years previously and who will not be over 35 by the end of 2024 can apply. For women who have children, the age limit is extended by one year for each child, depending on the number of children.

Meet the winners of the 2023 edition , Laetitia Gaspar – Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology at the University of Coimbra, Cláudia Deus – Multidisciplinary Institute for Ageing at the University of Coimbra, Sara Silva Pereira – Biomedical Research Center at the Portuguese Catholic University and Mariana Osswald – Institute for Research and Innovation in Health at the University of Porto.
