Call CaixaResearch 2024 awards 9 Portuguese projects
The ceremony to present the results of the 2024 edition of the “la Caixa” Foundation’s Call CaixaResearch in Health took place on November 13, 2024, in Madrid.
The event was attended by the President of FCT’s Board of Directors, Madalena Alves, as well as representatives of the “la Caixa” Foundation and the researchers responsible for the 29 projects selected for funding, nine of which are led by Portuguese higher education institutions and research centers.
Selected from 580 applications, these projects led by national institutions will together receive a total of 7.6 million euros to address health challenges in areas such as infectious diseases or oncology, among others.
This Iberian initiative is being carried out in Portugal through the FCT’s association with Calls CaixaResearch de Investigação em Saúde, which, through matching funds, has made it possible to support three additional projects led by Portuguese institutions with 2.5 million euros, out of a total of nine Portuguese projects selected in this edition.
