Call for Projects in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Cybersecurity with 117 applications

The period for applications to Call for IC&DT projects in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Cybersecurity of relevance to the Public Administration, carried out under investment “RE-C05-i08 – Ciência Mais Digital“, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), closed on July 31. 117 applications were submitted, demonstrating the growing interest in these areas.

Of the total number of applications submitted, around 25% were submitted by women and 75% by men. The total funding requested was €13,738,747.83.

This Call aims to support scientific research and technological development (IC&DT) projects at all stages, from exploratory activities to proofs of concept, with relevance to Public Administration entities, in the following thematic areas:

  • Artificial intelligence and data science;
  • Design of digital services and interaction design, from an interdisciplinary and user-centered perspective;
  • Cybersecurity;
  • Artificial Intelligence Governance.

The area of artificial intelligence, in the themes of data science and governance, was the one with the highest number of applications with 80%, followed by cybersecurity with 11% and digital service design and interaction design with 9%, without prejudice to the potential overlap between these areas.

Potential beneficiaries include higher education institutions and research units, as well as armed forces units and companies.

The provisional results of this Call are expected to be available in November 2024. The projects that are approved will be fully funded by the “RE-C05-i08 – Ciência Mais Digital” investment of the PRR, with a budget of €8,375,000 for this Call .
