Second AU-EU Innovation Agenda workshop on “Access to finance”

EU/AU

The second workshop of the AU-EU Innovation Agenda on “Access to finance” will be held on May 29 in an online format. This virtual workshop is the second in a series dedicated to implementing the short-term actions of the AU-EU Innovation Agenda, which has already included a first joint workshop between the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) on intellectual property rights, preceded by the AU-EU Innovation Festival in June 2023 and the AU-EU Innovation Agenda stakeholder event in November 2022.

The aim of this series of workshops is to provide African and European researchers and innovators and the stakeholder community involved in implementing the AU-EU Innovation Agenda with practical opportunities for training, growth, networking and collaboration.

This second workshop will take place online on Thursday, May 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (WEST), and will focus specifically on access to finance. In this workshop you will be able to:

  • Get the latest updates on research and innovation (R&I) developments in the African Union and Europe from high-level representatives of the AU and the EU, following up on the AU-EU Innovation Agenda session during the last African Regional STI Forum (ARSTIF) 2024 in Addis Ababa.
  • Accompany researchers and innovators who share experiences about the results and opportunities they have been able to seize through their participation in the work of the AU-EU Innovation Agenda.
  • Learn about the UA-EU training program in deep technological transformation, focusing on how to develop financial literacy, how to navigate public and private financing and, finally, how to take advantage of new opportunities.
  • Join the virtual café and network with other innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, investors and policy makers in three different virtual rooms.

The AU-EU Innovation Agenda represents the new political pillar of R&I cooperation between regions, based on close collaboration over the last three years under the aegis of the EU-AU High Level Political Dialogue on Science, Technology and Innovation(HLPD-STI), one of the science policy dialogues in which FCT represents Portugal.
