“AU-EU Innovation Agenda” session integrated into the European Research and Innovation Week
The session “AU-EU Innovation Agenda: Forward-looking cooperation for the Africa-Europe Partnership” is part of the European R&I Days 2024 programme and takes place in a hybrid format, in Brussels and online on March 20, from 16:50 to 17:20 pm (WET). This initiative is part of the Research and Innovation Week 2024 , organized by the European Commission and the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, from 18 to 21 March 2024.
This session features a high-level panel of EU and AU representatives, including EU Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen , AU Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Mohammed Belhocine, Directors of European Commission, Maria Cristina Russo (DG RTD) and Hans Christian Stausboll (DG INTPA), as well as the CEO of the AU Development Agency, Nardos Bekele-Thomas .
The AU-EU Innovation Agenda represents the new political pillar of R&I cooperation between Africa and Europe, based on close collaboration, over the last three years, under the aegis of the EU-AU High Level Political Dialogue for Science, Technology and Innovation ( HLPD-STI ), one of the science policy dialogues in which FCT ensures Portuguese representation. Eight months after the adoption of this Agenda, this session aims to take stock of progress in the implementation the AU-EU Innovation Agenda and present the launch of the new Scoreboard contributing to the implementation of the AU-EU Innovation Agenda.
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Framework Programme, the session will also host two success stories to illustrate the current and future impact of the AU-EU Innovation Agenda.
The full program is available for consultation on the page dedicated to this session and registrations are open at: https://research-innovation-community.ec.europa.eu/events/52ZqLn024m4rAeKyvr3zNu/overview
