Call Studentships PhDs in all scientific fields 2024

As of today, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) is opening applications to Call for the Award of Studentships for Doctoral Research in all Scientific Domains 2024 in the General Lineand in a Non-Academic Environment. Applications will be open until April 18, 2024.

The Studentships for doctoral studies are aimed at candidates enrolled, or who meet the necessary conditions for enrollment, in a study cycle leading to the degree of doctor and who intend to develop research activities leading to the degree.

Studentships This will be the 3rd edition of Call for PhDs with a line for Non-academic Environment, which will continue to support PhDs in close collaboration with civil society organizations, such as companies, museums, hospitals, associations and non-governmental organizations.

The 2024 edition of Call increases the number of Studentships to be awarded in the specific application line for work plans developed in non-academic entities to 450, 50 more than the previous year. The number of Studentships under the General Line remains at 1,050.

The FCT maintains an expression of interest for non-academic organizations to host doctoral students, a list of which is available for consultation and is constantly being updated. Applicants can consult this list of institutions and interact directly with each institution’s point of contact, with a view to preparing a work plan geared towards a possible application.

The Studentships PhDs in a Non-Academic Environment will also help to encourage the strengthening of the Public Administration’s internal competencies and support the definition and implementation of its research strategies and priorities, involving different areas of government, as established in the “More Science” programs signed by the FCT with the departments of Health, Defence, Justice, Culture, and Digitalization and Administrative Modernization.
